Biographie

Mein Name ist Dominik Bär. Ich bin Computational Social Scientist und entwickle modernste KI-Tools zur Lösung gesellschaftlicher Probleme. Meine Forschung befasst sich mit der Frage, wie wir KI nutzen können, um die Integrität sozialer Medien zu verbessern und Bedrohungen für die Gesellschaft zu entschärfen. Vor allem zielt meine Forschung darauf ab, einen positiven Einfluss auf die Gesellschaft zu haben, indem sie die Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen, Propaganda und Verschwörungstheorien in sozialen Medien eindämmt. So untersuche ich beispielsweise russische Propaganda während der Invasion in der Ukraine im Jahr 2022 und entwickle neuartige Modelle zur Moderation von Inhalten, um die Verbreitung von Propaganda effizient zu bekämpfen.

Für meine Forschung nutze ich modernste KI-Methoden wie große Sprachmodelle aus der natürlichen Sprachverarbeitung und (kausales) maschinelles Lernen. Dabei verbindet mein interdisziplinärer Ansatz Erkenntnisse aus den Sozialwissenschaften mit neuartigen Methoden aus der Informatik, um innovative KI-Ansätze zu entwickeln und gesellschaftlich relevante Forschungsfragen zu beantworten.

Derzeit arbeite ich als Doktorand am Institut für KI im Management der LMU München und dem Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML), wo ich aktiv zu einem interdisziplinären Umfeld exzellenter KI-Forscher beitrage.

My name is Dominik Bär. I am a computational social scientist developing cutting-edge AI tools to solve social issues. My research is about how we can use AI to improve the integrity of social media and mitigate new threats to society. Most importantly, my research aims to have a positive impact on society by curbing the spread of misinformation, propaganda, and conspiracy theories on social media. For example, I am studying Russian propaganda during the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and developing novel content moderation models to effectively combat the spread of propaganda online.

For my research, I use state-of-the-art AI methods such as large language models from natural language processing and (causal) machine learning. In doing so, my interdisciplinary approach combines insights from the social sciences with novel computational methods to develop innovative AI approaches and answer impactful research questions.

I am currently working as a Ph.D. student at the Institute for AI in Management at LMU Munich and the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML), where I actively contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of excellent AI researchers.

Fragestellungen im Themenfeld Künstliche Intelligenz

Meine Forschung nutzt Methoden der künstlichen Intelligenz und des maschinellen Lernens, um soziale Fragen zu untersuchen. Dabei nutzen wir umfangreiche Daten aus sozialen Medien, um zum Beispiel Verschwörungstheoretiker aufzuspüren, die Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen zu untersuchen oder die Auswirkungen sozialer Medien auf Wahlen zu analysieren.

My research leverages methods from AI and machine learning to study social issues. Here, we use large-scale data from social media, for example, to detect conspiracy theorist, study the spread of misinformation, or analyze the impact of social media on elections.
