Katharina Weitz

Research Associate at the Chair of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, University of Augsburg

Katharina Weitz completed training as a state-certified educator and worked for several years in kindergarten, open all-day school, and assisted living for young adults before studying computer science and psychology at the University of Bamberg. Since October 2018, she has been working as a research assistant at the Chair of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at the University of Augsburg. Here, she is researching possibilities to make artificial intelligence (AI) comprehensible for humans. In order for her research findings to reach a broad public, she uses science slams, videos, workshops and books to vividly communicate basic knowledge about computer science and AI to young and old alike. For this commitment, she was awarded the Junior Fellowship of the German Informatics Society in 2020.
