FH-Prof. DI Dr.-Ing. Simon Hoher

Professor at the Department "Information Technologies and Digitalisation", Salzburg University of Applied Sciences

Simon Hoher has been a professor at the Department of Information Technologies and Digitalization at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences since 2017 and is head of the "Mechatronics and Robotics" department. Previously, he worked as a project manager at ISG Industrielle Steuerungstechnik GmbH, where he was involved in the field of robotic and plant simulation software for industrial automation. From 2009 to 2013 he was a research assistant in the Cluster of Excellence "Simulation Technology" in the research project "Real-time Simulation of Complex Material Flow Systems" at the University of Stuttgart, where he also successfully completed his PhD.

In addition to his current teaching activities, he is a founding member and senior researcher of the research group "Smart Factories & Edge Computing" and actively conducts research as a pillar leader in the Josef Ressel Center for Intelligent and Secure Industrial Automation. His research focuses on digital twins and OT architectures in industrial automation technology.

He has received awards such as the Young Engineering Award of the SPS/IPC/DRIVES Congress (2012) and the Prof. Günther Prichow Award of the University of Stuttgart (2009).
