Whether spam filter, chatbot, translation program or image recognition: As socio-technical systems, AI technologies are already firmly anchored in our social life. Their increasing ubiquity, complexity and autonomy pose new challenges - as well as unprecedented opportunities. In doing so, they constantly raise new questions: How do we design AI systems in the sense of a free, fair and solidarity-based society? How can we create meaningful standards and regulations across disciplines for the benefit of all? How do we involve the broad public in the development of AI systems and create transparency and acceptance of new AI technologies and applications? The theme track "Society" sheds light on the role of AI systems in ourliving and working environments and is dedicated to the question of how AI can be designed to be socially compatible.
