My name is Lena Kästner, I am a junior professor for philosophy of mind and cognitive systems at the University of Saarland. Before that I was a postdoc at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain (HU Berlin) and the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. I received my doctorate in 2014 in Bochum, studied Cognitive Neuroscience (MSc, UCL) and Cognitive Science (BSc, Osnabrück). My main research interests are the theory of science and the philosophy of mind. Currently, I am mainly concerned with questions related to the explanation of cognitive abilities - on the one hand with regard to artificial intelligent systems, on the other hand with regard to psychopathology. I am particularly interested in whether and how we can use causal models in this context. Metaphysical and epistemological questions also play a role. My scientific thinking is characterized by my interdisciplinary background and a continuous interdisciplinary exchange.
