Dr. Thorsten Thiel

Research Group Leader "Democracy and Digitalization", Weizenbaum Institute

Thorsten Thiel is head of the research group "Digitization and Democracy" at the Berlin Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society. In the summer semester, he is filling in for the professorship of Comparative Government at the University of Erfurt. Previously, he was coordinator of the Leibniz Research Network "Crises of a Globalized World" and postdoctoral researcher at the Frankfurt Cluster of Excellence "The Formation of Normative Orders." His research interests include the structural transformation of the public sphere and the question of how effective and legitimate democratic control can be guaranteed in the digital constellation.
